Blossom Ski and Pirelli
bring rubber to skiing

The new stage of the Pirelli Design project is a collaboration with Blossom, a technological laboratory that represents the flagship of the Val Chiavenna tradition in the construction of Made in Italy skis.

Thus was born the first Sport Carve Ski with a layer of anti-vibration rubber inside.

Presented in St. Moritz as a world premiere in February 2017, this Sport Carve Ski guarantees exceptional stability for smooth and precise skiing, both in short and long turns, easily adapting to the snow conditions on the slopes.

In addition to the special design, characterized by the use of rubber on the upper part of the ski and the iconic long P logo, its distinctiveness hides in the technology of its materials: a thin layer of anti-vibration rubber is enclosed inside the ski.

This new ski is in fact built by the Blossom craftsmen with the sandwich technique, which consists of overlapping a series of layers of different materials, which are then heat-welded in an oven with special glues. The Sport Carve Ski has a wooden core, to which is added a graphite sole, a double layer of Titanal with a stabilizing effect and finally Fiberglass, a particular triaxial glass fiber that favors the torsion of the ski during maximum stress in curves.

The new contribution inserted by Pirelli inside is a strip of anti-vibration vulcanized rubber obtained from a compound specifically designed by Pirelli engineers to dampen up to 60% of the stresses that the ski undergoes during the descent.

Pirelli rubber plays a fundamental role of innovation contributing to the creation of a truly unique tool, to satisfy the desire of those who love to have fun on the snow with the guarantee of having at their feet “racing machines” capable of satisfying the needs of the most expert consumers.

The further exclusive element of the ski is that it is produced in 7 colors that are inspired by the colors used for racing tires. Each color is produced in a limited and numbered series of 110 pieces per color, in honor of the anniversary of Pirelli Motorsport, which celebrated 110 years of activity in 2017.

The ski is produced starting from a height of 151, and then goes up: 158, 164, 170, 176, 181.

Each of these measurements corresponds to a different radius of curvature expressed in meters: 10, 11, 13, 14,16, 17. The sidecut, therefore the construction of the shape of the ski, is particular and more accentuated: 121-71-106.
